Developing as the result of a defect in the immune system, Neuromyelitis Optica (NMO), is a serious disabling condition, that affects the nervous system, particularly the optic nerves and the spinal cord.
Those most seriously affected can be paralysed in all four limbs and may lose sight in both eyes.
A terrifying prospect. Even more so, when someone you know is afflicted by this relentless condition.
Research for a cure continues, but without continuing financial support, efforts will inevitably dwindle and the progress made over the last few years threatened.
At a time when Governmental investment is hard to secure, fund-raising and charities are more critical than ever.
Which is why nine colleagues are joining me, to raise money for NMO UK, by competing in Tough Mudder, on 30th April in Henley on Thames.
Tough Mudder is a team-oriented 12 mile obstacle course designed, to test physical strength and mental grit. It’s very dirty!
The MIQ UK competitors are:
- Andy Martin
- Arran Hanrahan
- Helen Briggs
- Joe Gill
- Josh Spillman
- Markus Higham
- Richard Hutchins
- Richard Lambourne
- Stuart Evans
- Vince Thomson
Please help us raise our target of £1,500 so that, together, we can contribute to the defeat of this dreadful disease.
Thanks for your support
