BIFA have revealed the finalists of their 29th annual Freight Service Awards with MIQ Logistics, a winner this year, shortlisted for their NFL Wembley project with New Era Cap.
The British International Freight Association (BIFA) is the trade association for the 1,500 UK-registered companies in the logistics and supply chain management sector that are engaged in the international movement of freight by all modes of transport.
Already a 2016 BIFA winner in the Extra Mile category for work with the Swedish fashion brand GANT, MIQ Logistics have been short-listed in the same category again in 2017 for its actions in support of the quintessential American headwear brand, New Era Cap, at the NFL Wembley match.
The NFL have played a sell-out game in London for the last ten years and, for many teams, it is their most profitable game of the season, which include a large contribution from merchandise.
So when NEC discovered that, due to an unprecedented vessel delay, their consignment of team caps for this year’s Miami Dolphins Vs New Orleans Saints match at Wembley were not going to arrive in time for the game, they turned to MIQ Logistics to make sure the teams had their hats when they ran onto the Wembley pitch in front of 85,000 fans and 15m viewers around the world.
The MIQ award submission detailed the actions taken by MIQ Logistics to intercept the delayed consignment en-route, locate the urgent caps and expedite their delivery in advance of kick-off by deploying the unique ‘Critical Freight audit’ process.
Selection as finalists in the 2017 BIFA Freight Service Awards follows short-listing for a Supply Chain Excellence Awards and earlier wins at BIFA 2016 and the Retail Week Supply Chain Awards.
Freight Service Award victors will be revealed at an awards ceremony in London on Thursday 18th January 2017.
